Dhanie Arie
Hello, I’m Dhanie Arie, and I’ve been part of Bali’s vibrant community since 2003. My initial visit to this enchanting island was for a short vacation, but it quickly transformed into a lifelong passion. On my second day here, as the sun set in golden hues, an unexpected job offer came my way, changing my life’s direction forever.
Professionally, my journey is quite varied. I’ve worked in event management, public relations, as a personal assistant, and as an event venue manager. Each role has added to my rich tapestry of experiences.
Outside of work, I am deeply passionate about culinary arts, photography, and travel. These interests blend into a joyful pursuit of discovery. As an enthusiastic Google Local Guides reviewer, I actively support local businesses that enrich our community.
My love for photography, especially astrophotography, is profound. I am captivated by landscapes and the cosmos. Under Bali’s low light pollution skies, I spend countless nights capturing the wonders above. My full moon photograph earned recognition by being featured in Coconut Singapore and Yahoo News! Additionally, my imagery of the Milky Way was celebrated on Local Guides Connect, powered by Google.
For those interested in astrophotography, Bali offers low light pollution spots that are perfect for capturing the night sky.
“For, as they say, when you wander, you seize each moment, immortalizing it in photographs and savoring the essence of local cuisines.”
Astro Photography from Munduk Bali
And in the realm of astrophotography lies a technique as enchanting as the stars themselves – the art of star trail photography. A sibling to astrophotography, this art demands patience as exposure times stretch beyond 15 minutes. A dance of intervals captures the passage of stars, weaving a mesmerizing tapestry of celestial trails. My own endeavors in this domain culminated in a star trails image, a testament to the universe’s timeless ballet.
Bali – Day of Silence
Ever since I took up photography as a hobby, I’ve eagerly awaited Nyepi every year. Before 2020, I used to leave Bali for Nyepi Day. However, since then, I’ve celebrated Nyepi in Bali twice, and each time I’ve had a unique experience.
