Dhanie Arie
Hello, I’m Dhanie Arie, and I’ve been part of Bali’s vibrant community since 2003. My initial visit to this enchanting island was for a short vacation, but it quickly transformed into a lifelong passion. On my second day here, as the sun set in golden hues, an unexpected job offer came my way, changing my life’s direction forever.
Professionally, my journey is quite varied. I’ve worked in event management, public relations, as a personal assistant, and as an event venue manager. Each role has added to my rich tapestry of experiences.
Outside of work, I am deeply passionate about culinary arts, photography, and travel. These interests blend into a joyful pursuit of discovery. As an enthusiastic Google Local Guides reviewer, I actively support local businesses that enrich our community.
My love for photography, especially astrophotography, is profound. I am captivated by landscapes and the cosmos. Under Bali’s low light pollution skies, I spend countless nights capturing the wonders above. My full moon photograph earned recognition by being featured in Coconut Singapore and Yahoo News! Additionally, my imagery of the Milky Way was celebrated on Local Guides Connect, powered by Google.
For those interested in astrophotography, Bali offers low light pollution spots that are perfect for capturing the night sky.
“For, as they say, when you wander, you seize each moment, immortalizing it in photographs and savoring the essence of local cuisines.”
Milky Way Photograph with a Stunning View of Mount Agung from Tulamben, Bali
Mount Agung, Bali’s majestic active volcano, last erupted in June 2019. I planned a photography trip to capture the Milky Way with the volcano as a stunning backdrop. After a two-hour ride, I arrived in Tulamben, where I caught a breathtaking sunset at an event—luckily with free entry—before setting up for an unforgettable night of astrophotography.
A night filled with stars in Bali
After an early dinner in Pakisan, I prepared for a night of star photography with my Fujifilm X-T5. Finding a remote spot, I captured stunning images of the Milky Way. The experience, enhanced by the serene surroundings, resulted in breathtaking photos that I later marveled at while editing.
